Mr. Jones

“Ivan, she mustn’t suspect for a second that you’re the photographer. Can you do it?”So I slipped into my role, speaking in English, pretending to be the captain’s assistant, gently helping her into the boat. And then, at exactly the right moment, I reached into a pile of blankets and pulled out my camera. The plan worked. In one of the photographs, you can see the exact instant of her pure, genuine surprise. And after that — laughter through tears, kisses, and two unforgettable hours in the embrace of the man she loves, in one of the most romantic cities in the world. At first, we had planned to do the shoot from a bridge. But the weather had other ideas. A light rain was falling, and there was a real risk of missing the moment altogether, because the boats raise their canopies in the rain. So we changed the plan — and, in the end, it made the story feel even more intimate, more tender, and more real for the guests from South America.

The whole shoot unfolded to the beautiful sound of "Me and Mrs. Jones"
